Death of a Girlhood 

This project explores the distressing transformation undertaken by a young girl. She's captured in many states- young and vulnerable, wearing 'character' disguises, and using ugly make-up. 

She puts on an uncomfortable dress, a Ruff, dresses as a queen, to name a few disguises. These characters are forced to 'play' as the roles put upon her to please an authoritarian outsider gaze. 

In safety she experiments with make-up and how she actually perceives herself- she paints her own ruin with overdrawn lips, powerful eyeshadow, and distorts her face with tape.
